Pacific Home Staffs Up for Grand Opening
01/26/2006
Honolulu, Hawaii, January 26, 2006. Pacific Home, currently located on Young Street in the upper Kakaako area of Honolulu, is scheduled to move to Ward Avenue in March 2006; and is increasing its staff to better serve customers in what will be a much larger showroom.
Named Store Managers at Pacific Home are Isla Schmidt, promoted from Assistant Manager, and Marie “Missy” Owens, most recently a Sales Supervisor at DKNY.
Isla Schmidt says she is working her dream job. “I grew up on an island off the coast of Maine, so I find it funny that I’ve landed here, doing exactly what I want – working in interior design – on a complete opposite island in the middle of the Pacific!”
Prior to working at Pacific Home, Ms. Schmidt was a visual merchandiser and assistant manager at a large Gap store located in Washington, D.C. She transferred to the Gap Kids store at Ala Moana and worked as a stock supervisor. While continuing working on her BFA in Interior Design at Chaminade University, Isla felt it was time to combine her retail experience with her interior-design education. She found a perfect fit at Pacific Home, where she has been employed for the past year as a sales associate.
As part of its business expansion plan, Pacific Home also hired Marie Owens, better known as Missy. Previous to this career move, Miss Owens was a Sales Supervisor at DKNY at Ala Moana Shopping Center and prior to that a Visual Manager at Hollister Company, also at Ala Moana Shopping Center.
Missy, who grew up on Kauai, attended school in California, studying at Orange Coast College where she received an AA in Liberal Arts. She finished her degree at the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor of Science in Apparel Product Design and Merchandising.
Missy Owens, who is a big fan of art and design commented, “I really enjoy working at Pacific Home, primarily because of the people I work with and being surrounded by all the beautiful things. I love being able to use my creativity when helping clients select merchandise for their homes. And, being a future buyer … being able to order new and interesting lines for the store is very exciting to me.”
Pacific Home offers stylish home furnishings and accessories inspired by the unique flair of the Pacific Islands – quality, imported, exotic merchandise with the newest, sharpest trends in home furnishings offered by top U.S. brands.
