Aubrey Yee: Pacific Home Owner Named “Forty Under 40”

(Honolulu, Hawaii)….Aubrey Morgan Yee, a co-owner of Pacific Home, was honored as one of the 2006 “Forty Under 40” businesspersons in Hawaii. Each year, Pacific Business News honors the top “Forty Under 40” businesspeople in Hawaii. The event honors the contributions and potential of Hawaii’s young businesspeople who are making a difference in Hawaii’s economy and community.

Ms. Yee is one of the founders of Pacific Home, a home furnishings and design store located in Honolulu. Aubrey Yee along with Jennifer Johnson initially opened their store at the upper Kakaako retail site in 2004. By 2006, the company expanded to a new location at 420 Ward Avenue, just about quadrupling the size of the original business space as well as adding another partner, Jamie Jackson.

“I began my interest in the design industry with hands-on knowledge of importing and exporting,” explained Ms. Yee. “I was very interested in traveling and was able to immerse myself in the culture, and languages while learning the unique aspects of international sourcing.”

Ms. Yee began her business ventures with an importing company called Amber Road International, where she imported products directly from Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Ms. Yee has expanded her knowledge to work with retailers in Hawaii and on the U.S. mainland, as well as with local designers, to create custom high-end home furnishings and unique building materials for Pacific Home’s clients.

In addition to her commitment to Pacific Home, Ms. Yee continues to strengthen her roots in Hawaii. She has served on the board of directors for Hawaii Community Action Partners (HCAP), and is a founding member of WINDS, a small women’s group of young entrepreneurs who focus on giving back to women in need or helping other young women start their own businesses. Ms. Yee has also taken on the task, along with her partners, of finding appropriate charities for Pacific Home to sponsor. The Honolulu Academy of Arts as well as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition are just two of the organizations that have benefited.
