(Honolulu, Hawaii)… Choosing a green lifestyle means doing more than recycling aluminum cans. Help is here so you can do more by going green in all areas of style. ECOSTYLE Hawai`i, an exposition and fashion show will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Pacific Home, 420 Ward Avenue. The ECOSTYLE Hawai`i -- Exposition & Fashion Show, sponsored by Modern Pacific Weddings, Hawaii Modern Luxury magazine, Ocupop, Audi, and Pacific Home, promises a fabulous night of shopping, food from Wahoo’s, beverages, entertainment, door prizes and fun photos from “Bambooth Photo.”
Come to the Expo and shop for organic skincare by Pure&True; green-inspired jewelry pieces by Hinu jewelry; Soozou’s unique bags and accessories, made from recycled ship sails and handmade through a women’s development project in collaboration with the Kokua Kalihi Valley Community Center; and reclaimed teak furniture from Pacific Home, a member of “1% for the Planet.”
ECOSTYLE Hawai`i will present a green fashion show at 7 p.m. Highlights of the fashion show will be designs from Mu`umu`u Heaven, where Debbie Mascia has made her mark reclaiming and deconstructing vintage aloha wear into contemporary clothing; recycled clothing from the hip Mechakawa Vintage shop; and Modern Pacific Weddings’ eco-couture wedding gowns from designer Adele Wechsler. The gowns are created from organic silk blends and plant-based dyes, using fair trade labor.
Regan Schultz, owner of Modern Pacific Weddings says, “Consumers are finally getting a choice in style and a choice to go green – even for their weddings. It’s great to see how many brides are interested not just in their special day but in supporting a greener world in which we all live.”
Event-goers will receive a membership to ecostylehawaii.com; green ‘goodie’ bags plus an incentive EcoChoice card. The EcoChoice card provides green shoppers with a variety of discounts and benefits that support local, green businesses.
“We’re excited to hold the launching event for the Web site: ecostylehawaii.com. The Web site is going to be a great online resource tailored specifically for eco-companies, events, and community projects in an effort to make Hawaii more environmentally aware and ultimately greener,” says Jennifer Johnson, founder and co-owner of Pacific Home.
Pacific Home features wood furniture sourced from domestic suppliers dedicated to responsible forest management. Recycled fibers from plastic bottles; mechanisms from 65% recycled metal; soy-based biomaterial for padding and cushions; and fabrics made of natural fibers from furniture are just some more ways that Pacific Home is helping you go green with style for your home.
